Information Package of Medicine

The education language of the Faculty of Medicine of Yüksek İhtisas University is in Turkish.
The main characteristic of the education applied in the Faculty of Medicine of Yüksek İhtisas University is that the courses are given according to the integrated system in Term I, II and III.
This educational system deals with a specific subject, for example the nervous and sensory system, and basic medical sciences such as anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry and clinical sciences are given in a specific order. 
In the first semester of medical education for students, basic sciences, social health problems and basic concepts and genetics are given. 
In the second period, organism, embryonic development of organs, anatomical and histological structures and functions are defined and comprehension skills are gained.
In the third period; ethiopathogenesis, pharmacology, microbiology, clinical and radiological findings and treatment methods of diseases, to provide current information about public health practices and approaches and to acquire the basic skills and attitudes required by the medical profession. 
The fourth and fifth semesters of medical education are devoted to clinical internships. Services include seminars in addition to patient work, clinical training and lectures and councils. 
The sixth year is the period of internship before graduation. During this period students take responsibility for the supervision of faculty members and experts and prepare themselves for medicine.

To be admitted to the Faculty of Medicine, the high school diploma and the centralized national university placement examination must be completed or the requirements in accordance with regulations related to international student admission must be met.

Accepting students to the Faculty of Medicine according to the principles determined by the Council of Higher Education. Only full-time students are accepted to The Faculty of Medicine. Part-time and listening students are not accepted. In order for the records of those who wish to transfer from another medical faculty to the Faculty of Medicine of Yüksek İhtisas University, the student placement test (LMS) scores they have taken for the year they entered the course are lower than the Yüksek İhtisas University Medical Faculty base score of that year and their situation must comply with the principles determined by the Higher Education Council.

Graduates with medical doctor diplomas can be admitted to the specialization programs with the "Examination for Specialty in Medicine" (TUS) made by ÖSYM, or they can apply for "doctoral programs" in departments such as Basic Medical Sciences. After the specialist training, they can enter the minor program by the "Minor specialist examination" which is also done by ÖSYM.

The principles of measurement and evaluation of the Faculty of Medicine are carried out in accordance with the "Faculty of Medicine Education, Measurement and Evaluation Directive".

This instruction is carried out according to "Yüksek İhtisas University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education-Examination and Examination Regulations" published in the Official Gazette dated 02.10.2017 and numbered 30198.

According to the Pre-Graduate Education-Instruction and Examination Directive of Yüksek İhtisas University, Faculty of Medicine, 

ARTICLE 18 - 

(1) In Semester I, II and III; mid-term examinations are made during the year, final and make-up exams are held at the end of the year. In non-medical compulsory courses every semester; one midterm exam, one final and makeup exam at the end of the year. Elective courses offered for each semester; one midterm exam, one final and makeup exam at the end of the year. 

(2) The grades of the small group studies in the Program of Cohesion for Medicine are as follows: 

a) Semester I 
- Clinical Skill Training: 40% 
- Communication Skills Training: 20% 
- Probing Based Learning: 20% 
- Medium-based medicine: 10% 
- Critical Thinking and Art: 10%

b) Semester II
- Clinical Skill Training: 30% 
- Probing Based Learning: 30% 
- Communication Skills Training: 20% 
- Medium-based medicine: 20% 

c) Semester III
- Introduction to Clinical Training: 50% 
- Communication Skills Training: 20% 
- Probing Based Learning: 20% 
- Medium-based medicine: 10% 

(3) In the Semester I, II and III, the Program of Adjustment to Medical Care is the threshold to enter the final exam and the grade of the threshold is 70.

(4) Students are entitled to enter the final exam and / or the theoretic exam which is not included in any of the practical exams. However, the score of the practical examination that is not entered is evaluated by deducting the total score of the related course in the theoretical examination. 

(5) Internship exam: Practical and theoretical evaluation of each internship is done separately. Practical exam; Internship Evaluation and Internship Process Evaluation (Student Development File). The final evaluation of the practical exam will be done in the semester IV and V internships as determined by the related department (patient self evaluation, mini clinical evaluation, objective structured clinical practice exam etc.). A successful student is entitled to enter the theoretical examination. The theoretical exam is also carried out in two parts. 50% of the score of each oral and written examination is taken and the passing grade is determined. 

(6) Internship Make-up exam: For students who fail the internship exam; is the exam held on the date specified in the academic calendar after the end of the last internship of the academic year.

(7) If the students who repeat their clinical internships fail again; up to three internships in Term IV and no more than five internships in Term V, the following internship group will be entitled to a makeup exam for the following internship group without waiting for the end of the year. Students who fail in this exam repeat the internship once more. 

ARTICLE 22 - 

(1) The passing grade is 60 in the semesters I, II and III and IV, V and VI. The exams are evaluated over 100 full points. The success grade of a course in Term I, II and III; Midterm exams are found by adding 60% of the grade average to 40% of the final exam or make-up grade.

(2) In the periods IV and V; the average of the grades that the students who are successful in the practical exam and the oral and written exams of the internship are taken. 
(3) In this case, One of the letter grades mentioned below shall be appreciated by applying one of the methods determined by the Rectorate by the faculty member and / or the instructor who is responsible for the Branches of the Schools in the Periods I, II and III and in the Periods IV, V and VI.

In all semesters; a student who has one of the grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), has been considered as succesful.

A student who fulfills the following conditions is considered to have completed his / her education and is entitled to obtain a diploma and diploma certificate; ;

a) have completed all the courses of the six-year medical faculty program and have fulfilled other obligations of the program,
b) Having completed 360 ECTS, 
c)It is sufficient to have at least 2,00 GANO.

Graduates who have successfully completed a six-year medical faculty education receive the title of medical doctor. However, medical faculty graduates obtain graduation diplomas following approval by the Ministry of Health after completing two years of compulsory services.

Medical faculty graduates serve as Medical Doctors. Medical Faculty graduates work in various health units such as community health units in primary health care and emergency services of public hospitals through a drawing prepared by the Ministry of Health for two years compulsory service. The medical doctors who are successful in the Specialization in Medicine Exam which is organized twice every year serve as assistant doctors in the university hospitals or in the training and research hospitals of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey.

Graduates of the undergraduate program of the Faculty of Medicine of Higher Specialization University; - To determine the most effective treatment protocols in medical emergency, to be able to take appropriate history, to perform physical examination, to perform diagnostic procedures and to carry out blood-based, rational treatments, 
- have the potential to identify health problems in their home country, have the potential to produce solutions, use the principles and methods of public health to protect and improve the health of the community and individuals, 
- Being able to analyze the social determinants of health, the different social economic and cultural factors that can affect health, 
- will have respect for patient rights, dignity, autonomy, integrity and confidentiality, who can establish causal relationships, have the potential to search for answers by asking scientific questions, have the ability to plan and execute medical researches, respect ethical principles during medical investigations, . The ability to transfer universal human rights principles to medical practice, 
- A manager who has the qualities of being a leader and leader, but can also be a productive member of a team at the same time, 
- Communication skills are developed, social, patients and colleagues to communicate effectively in writing and orally, 
- Information technologies that can be used effectively in keeping up with the current era, 
- It will be able to transfer principles, scientific knowledge and methods of biomedical and other engineering sciences together with social sciences to medical applications and to be able to work together with these science branches.
